Fairy Tail vest progress

So this has been wadded up sitting on the back of my couch for over a month waiting for me to get it blocked.  Due to my constant struggle with depression I kept putting it off, as this is suppose to be a 'me' project and I want it to be a happy project.  I decided that waiting would just keep putting it off till the project got lost or packed away and forgotten.
After it dries I will still need to sew up the sides and decide if I want to add a trim, and if so in what color(s), and maybe add a pannel on the sides depending on how it sized out.

Winter Headband *Pattern*

One of the things I got requests for this christmas is headbands to keep peoples ears warm with out giving them hat hair.
This is what I came up with, a textured headband that can be made wider or slimer by adding/subtracting rows.

I worked this one up in LionBrand Mandala Genie.

Get your copy of the pattern here.

What has been on my hook....

So I just finished a commision for a Skull Beanie.
Outside of paying work, I have officaly started hooking up my Christmas gifts.
I dont have alot of planned projects because I want to make sure the people I am hooking for actully want/need somedthing I can make for them so I dont just drownd them in scarf's/mitts/hats.
This is the commision hat, niece Jordan is modling it for me.
This is a minecraft creaper hat.  Worked in C2C to give it that pixaled look the game has.
This is a Solomon's Knot scarf, lacy light weight but still warm made up in a fuzzy yarn (mill end no lable looks like shaw in a ball).

Happy Birthday Wayne!!

So I suck at keeping secrets.  I have already given my hubby most of his gifts as I got them.

But this gift has taken me a while to finish and set up.  The cloudy white stuff is the sealant and glue we used to decoupage the surface with comic book images.

I had alot of help from my wonderful sister with this project I cant thank her enough with out her lep this would still be unfinished.  We reclaimed parts of a vanity, and resurface a spare desk to fill in the back wall with a L shaped space to do lego things.  We got a bluetooth speaker/light fixtur to hang over the area and light up the shelving.  Only 3 shelfs are set up just to give an idea of what can be done, I do have more brackets and shelving so he can change it up how ever he likes.
Besides the desk/lamp his other gifts are - 3 mini fig's, 2000 lego's, and six16x32 lego boards.  Oh and a Pokeball phone charger!! Not pictured cuz I havent gotten a photo of him using it yet.

WIP- Birthday present

So instead of a crochet post, I am doing a creative post.  My hubbys birthday is coming up and he is not all that enthused with yarn gifts so I am building him a full wall shelving and L shaped desk so he can display his lego sets, figures, books, what-not.
I plan on papering the top of the desk with panels cut out from his collection of comic books that he is willing to part with.  So right now I am taking staples out of books as delicatly as I can.
Pro tip -- Have a good light, a nail file, and if you dont want to get ink all over gloves.  I only had one of these things and probly should have gotten/used the other two.
Prepainted the desk tops with a matte black just in case I miss a spot while papering the top it will not stand out (atleast that is what I am hoping for).
Going to recruit some child labor to help me with cutting up all the comics, and picking out the best pannels.  She is a pro, but more of a Batman fan when I will be hualing over more Spiderman, X-men, Superman stuff.

Will post more later when I have more progress done!

Crochet Blocked...

I am still working on the Fairy Tail shrug!! I am just getting a bit of crochet block/burnout.
To fight that off I have been making up some Mini Octo's that will hopefully be going to the Japanese festival this year. Pictured below is what I had finished (semi finished they need stuffing and closing) by sunday while I was at gaming.

So while I was out this weekend I noticed my local Wall-e-world had thrown their Lion Brand Mandal on clearance and decided to treat myself.  I picked up three skeins of Spirit (top, bottom right 2), two skeins of Genie (left bottom and mid), and one skein of Valkyrie.

No real plan's yet on what I am going to make with them (give me ideas!!) but I could not pass the deal up.  While I was spending craft money I also picked up 2 other items that I hope will make crocheting easier.

On the left is a silicon yarn ring, it can hold up to 3 strands at a time and has 3 different interchangeable size plates for crochet thread to worsted weight.  On the right is a stitch/row counting abucas bracelet, not sure it will work as the stitch marker ring on the larger beads seems to be a bit to large and skips around which could throw off your count if you dont notice it move.

Thank you all!!

Every time my phone dings that I got a message from paypal I smile.  I wanted to give a shout out to everyone who has helped support my crochet obsession by either buying my patterns or ordering a commission.

I never expected that when I picked up yarn an a hook so many years ago I would be writing and selling my own patterns, and it still amazes me every time I see I sold an other.  So as my thanks to all of you on June 20th 2017 I am doing a freebie event again.  To celebrate my birthday and all of you I, you can get one of my pay patterns from my Ravelry shop for free with the promo code 'HappyBday'  on June 20th 2017.  The code will only be active for the 24 hours of June 20th so remember to come back!

Ok it's finished! The beanie is a simple hdc in the round starting with 8 sitchs, working increases for the first 5 rounds, the just hdc till row 11, work 12-13 in an alternating front/back post ribbing.
The beard is just alternating rows of bobble and sc, with a chain 5 in the middle of the 3rd bobble row, and when working the last sc row do bobble stitch 3 times in the chain for a little mustache.
I need to get my laptop back so I can reload all my software and get back to writing out patterns (my phone auto corrects any crochet terms into other words) and be able to get back to my fairy tail piece I was working on.

New Pattern in progress

Spring is here which means tank tops are coming back out.  I wanted to make a cover up themed by one of my favorite manga's FairyTail by Hiro Mashima.

This is the back pannel of the piece, the FairyTail Guild emblem worked in filet crochet.
I have not tested it yet just finished working up the chart, I still need to work up a sample and figure out how I want to finish the front of it.

MLP Nightmare Moon Finished

I have finally finished this one.  I am not happy with the eyes at all.  I made a templet to use to sponge the paint on and that worked well, its just painting on black is not easy or forgiving.  Unlike the last pony I did, this one had different eyes more almond shaped with a slit pupil.
I had done a crochet version of the helmet but it was just way to bulky so I decided the helmet, cutie mark, and necklace would all have to be done in felt.
Doing it that way makes it so the helmet and necklace are both removable.
Since I could not find a pattern for this pony I mashed up bits from the Apple Jack I did and free handed the rest.  I really like how the wings came out but you cant see that from the photos it is so hard to get a good photo of black yarn.
I am hoping my niece loves it, as her birthday party is next weekend.

WIP -- What a Nightmare

So as requested by my niece for her birthday I am making yet an other MLP.  This one is called Princess Nighatmare Moon  and I was not able to find a pattern for her 'nightmare' version so I am just making it up as I go.

I know I still need to make the wings, main, tail, neckless, and  a horn.  After that I need to figure out how I want to make her 'cutie' mark wich is on both sides of her hind end as a purple cloud and crescent moon.   I want to do it in felt as that will be far easier then trying to crochet and sew as I would have to sew threw a lot of layers (pony/leg/cloud/moon) and I think it would also look more bulky then if I felt it.  So now I just have to see if I have the felt in the colors I need (or buy them if I dont).

This is currently what I am procrastinating doing, what might you be procrastinating?

Mini Flower Hat Octo

So I have not created anything new in a long time as I have not been feeling very creative.

Animeggroll was running low on amigurumis so I decided to see if I could make some octos. While doing that I decided to try and make a mini flower hat octo - here is my results.

I was only able to get a four peddle flower and still have the octo work with out rippling up.  If there is any demand I can chart and write out a pattern for it, but as of right now it only excists in my head as I just winged it as I was going.

Do you have an idea you thinkn I can bring to life?  Leave a comment and maybe it will inspire me.

Now I am back off to working on a Nightmare Moon MLP for someones birthday.

The good, the bad, and the knitted

So a few noticeable issues I have with the loom first.  The hook it comes with is not very effective, I found myself trying to use it with a pencil hold and with in a minute my hand started to hurt.  I switched up to a knife hold and that works better but I am going to need to add some padding wrap to the handle and extend that about 1/2 onto the hooks shaft for it to be 'comfortable' to work with.
In the instructional video it comes with the person working the loom had made adoptions to their hook but did not mention anything about it in the video's so I am guessing it's a known issue so just be prepared.  Also the hook could use some work it is not a complete 90 degree bend at the tip which makes working the slider section a bit difficult. I think when I bind off this test sock I am going to see if I can't bend it into a 90 degree angle and see if that helps when working in the smaller space for the slider section.
Now onto the loom itself, I got the wood and metal version because I didn't want to snap off the plastic pegs which I have done before with the cheaper plastic knit in the round hoops.  It is very sturdy so no issues there, but the instructions tell you for a standard sock to cast on 52, and I am finding that to be way to large in width for a sock.  Also I am finding that working around the corners, that corner stitch is always a bit looser no matter how tight I wrap the pegs.
The test sock I have on the loom right now is worked cuff down, and I have finished the heel section and am just working on the foot section.  I worked a 1x rib cuff through the first color change of the yarn, then switched to working what they call the flat stitch which is basically a knit stitch just a bit tighter then if you work the knit stitch itself.  I think the next sock I work up on it I will adjust where I work the heal at, as their directions have you working it over one long side and one short side in short rows.  I will set it to where my short row ends completely on the short section so I don't have to try and work the heal over the corner.
Now on to the crochet hook I got -- I love it!  My hand did stiffen up a bit when I started using it but once I got into hook up a hat with it I completely forgot that I was using a new hook.  It worked just as great as my ergo handle.

New Tools!!

so I got some new crafting tools with my christmas gift cards.  I am very excited about this crochet hook I found at Hobby Lobby.
It look like the hooks I covet from Furls Candy Shop, at just a faction of the price instead of paying $49 bucks I only spent $6 on this Yarnology Lux Hook.  I was a bit disapointed they only had sizes J(6mm)-Q (15mm) I would love a smaller size to work my amigurumi with but for now I will make due with this J hook.

My  other big purchase that I am giving a try is a sock loom, I caved in and got it because I found some gorgeous sock yarn that I want to get on my feet.  I know I don't show much knitting here, yes I know how to but it hurts my hands more then crochet does and using this loom is a good cheat heres to hoping it works out and I make a ton of socks!

Whats your most coveted tool?

Baaa Baa conversion finished!

so I have finished my knit to crochet conversion of Bobble Sheep Pillow by Purl Soho.
I have not heard back from them about sharing my crochet conversion so I will  not be posting it, BUT I can tell you I worked the 'body'  in the round same stitch count as pattern. I did a repeating pattern of  Single Crochet, Double Crochet 4 stitch bobble leaving a stitch marker in the middle of the round.  To increase I alternated working a increase at the start/end every other row, and one at stitch marker in the middle  -- increase worked in SC ---  SC, Bobble, SC --- all into the same stitch.

If any of you want to make a crochet version and get hung up trying to convert it yourself just give me a jingle and I will try to help you out.

Knitting to Crochet conversion Sheep

I was asked to make a pillow sized sheep from a photo that was found online.

Now most people can not tell the difference between knit and crochet, a good bit of them think its the same thing or interchangeable.  The photo was of  the Bobble Sheep Pillow by Purl SoHo.  Very gourgous but I dont knit (I can knit I just prefure to hook).

So I said I would do it in crochet, and here I am translating a knitting pattern to crochet as I work.

This one will be interesting when I get it finished it will be the largest bobble pattern I have worked up.

So I am going with requested colors of off white and dark gray but I am using yarn that I could buy localy thats super bulky and soft.  If I hear back from Purl SoHo, I will know if I can share my translation of her pattern with you all.
