Sojourn Anthology (1&2)

Beth and Wayne are two of the amazing authors who have published stories in the Sojourn Anthology

Now they both have second stories being published in Sojourn Anthology 2!
As part of the launch of the second anthology Beth did an AMA event on Facebook (back in December) with some of the other authors.

Most authors did a giveaway to random questioners, and that's were I come in.  Beth wanted something cute and small she could gift out to people who 'showed' up to the event.  I quickly whipped up two octo's for the winners.

If you are interested in the books they are for sale in physical and ebook format from amazon.  They are a great collection of new fiction writers and I enjoyed reading them although I will admit as with any collection of short story's I liked more then others.  Beth managed to build characters with depth and intrigue, Wayne's story telling just sucked me in leaving me wanted a bit more.

Here are to short snippets from both of their stories in the new book.

Metamorphosis - Beth Roper

It took patience and cunning to stay alive in the Edinburgh Vaults and Spider had developed both until she was as good as her namesake. Life in the underground sapped everything but the drive to survive until the only beauty she knew was the stars she saw on infrequent trips to the surface and the snatches of ballads she sang to herself when she thought she was alone. Anything else would leave her vulnerable to the predators waiting at every turn. The fact women were disappearing from the Vaults wasn’t a surprise, that someone was looking for them was.
Jax Sinclair could feel a story in the air. It was here in this labyrinth of tunnels, buried under the South Bridge. A bigger story than the penny dreadfuls he was used to writing. His reporter’s instincts would have led him here eventually, but Kat’s visions had pointed the way. His fiancĂ©e dreamt nightly of waltzing with a stranger “made of ice” in a grand hall. He would have written it off to her vivid imagination except that she spied a drawing of a missing girl in the paper and swore it was one of the musicians in her dream. The trail led to a brothel in the Vaults, and Spider.
Against her better judgment, Jax convinced Spider to help him uncover the trail of the missing women which took them from the squalor of the Vaults to the elegant drawing rooms of rich men grown bored with drinking and whoring. Their boredom led them to pass times infinitely more dangerous and playmates who cared for nothing but their own pleasure. Would Jax and Spider survive the games or would they become trapped in the heart of winter?

Story  - Wayne Cole

I glanced at the sky and longed for the sun that used to light it. After all these years even a simple star would have brought me joy, but they were gone too. I stood on the snow covered hilltop and looked down at a small stone town. There were torches lining the streets and the snow had been piled up against them. At the very center of town a large bonfire burned and about twenty people were gathered around it trying to get warm. I had never been to this town, but I had seen this before. Ever since the sun had been blocked out, most surviving towns looked similar.

I strained my eyes and found the elderly man I was looking for at the edge of town. The old man walked slowly to the bonfire and the crowd parted to make room. He wore old torn leather armor and a coat so shredded it was little more than rags. With each step he leaned heavily against a poorly carved wooden cane. The man carefully lowered himself to sit on a large rock right at the edge of the fire.

As he began to yell out to the crowd there was a strange energy about him. He had a smile on his face and his movements became more fluid. His voice started out raspy, but quickly smoothed out into the practiced tone of a storyteller. It seemed as if the years were melting away and I couldn’t help but smile myself. I sat on the hill and prepared myself to hear his story.

Newest Chibi Dragon to join the bunch...

Meet Kisses.  She is chocolate brown, and silver with light purple eyes.

The colors just made me think of Hershey's kisses so thats where she got her name.

I have decided to hold off on working on puting together a pattern till after the convention I am going to sell at so I have more time to work on things to sell.

This does not mean I wont start on it, but dont expect it soon.

Any suggestions for color combos anyone would like to see the pattern dragon worked up in?  Think of what will photograph well, so white and black are both out the window.  I was thinking of digging threw my stash to see what I have, I know I have left over colors from my rainbow granny that are more then enough to make a dragon, and many diffrent shades of those colors.

Fear the Con 7 June 13-14 (St Louis gamers convention)

This is the selection I plan on hauling with me to Fear the Con 7 June 13th - June 14th, 2014 at the Maryland Heights Centre.

This is, a winter chibi, a Dean chibi, a dinosaur, a owl, 2 blue eyes (cats love these), 3 generic turtles (so they can be customize later), one full set of TMNT will be sold as a set (unless it gets to mid 2nd and no interest is shown then I will brake them up), 3 chibi dragons, 5 cthulhu in assorted colors, 9 bunnies in assorted colors, 2 dragon scale dice bags, and a pokeball dice bag.

I am trying to decide if I should make more TMNT, or work on more dragons, or not bother with crochet and get to work on creating the Chibi Dragon Pattern.

Funnie bunnie

This Bunnie was a commission from one of the guys who came to the gaming convention I have been at all weekend. (Fear the Con).  I made it from a sketch he drew me, its basically a sphere, with long ears laid flat on its head 4 pointy feed and a ragged tail.  Took me roughly 4 to 6 hours to crochet it all, and about 30-ish minutes to assemble in a manor that would best resemble the drawing.  We opted to felt on eyes because I didnt have access to the right size safty eyes.

This has given me the idea to modify what I wrote as I worked and make a unicorn verson with a rainbow tail!!

I also worked on an other BaBomb for myself but before I could even finish it someone came up and asked to buy it.

BaBomb

I worked on this BaBomb while at World Wide Wing night tonight!  Going to work on a few other things during Fear the Con (Convention being hosted this weekend May 3-4 at the Marilyn Heights community center in St Louis with free beer and soda with convention pass).  Was asked to make an other Tardis, and to work on a rabbit, but not your typical rabbit.

I made this with out a pattern, I did jot down what I did if anyone wants to know to make their own for  personal use or as a gift!

D10 what a pain in the....

Fingers.

Seriously.  Took me a few tries to get the shape correct times 10, and sewing them all together was a bit harder then doing up the D12.  Stabbed myself with a darning needle a few times trying to get the top and bottoms sewn up with out lossing the over all shape.

This one doesn't 'roll' easily but it lands face up when tossed straight up.  Then again I don't think an actual D10 rolls well at all so it might not be a fault on my end and just an over all aspect of the shape.

So I have 4/6th of a complete set done!  Still dreading the D20, and procrastinating on the D6.  so far I have put 6 day's worth of work into making these little  or rather 'big' crochet dice.  Debating on if I will sell it all as a set or let them go individually at the con.

More Crochet Dice

Left to Right: D8, D12, D4
So I have got the nack down for making D4 and D8 although I think the D8 looks a little frumpy.  They all roll well, landing on a face side up every time. Took me two days to make and piece the D12, and a day a piece for the D8 and D4.

I wonder if I put my patterns up for sale for like $2 for a pdf/video if anyone would be interested?
I only have the three made so far, though I could easily make a D20 it just seems very daunting it would probably take a day alone to piece it together and possibly 2 days to make and number the sides. I plan on doing a D6 next it should be the easiest pattern to make.
I do think the hardest pattern I will have to fumble threw making is the D10 I have a working idea for it but it will have to wait till I can try and assemble it to see if it will work like a D10 should.
