Pumpkim decorating contest!!

So Animeggroll is having its 4th anniversary party this weekend.

They are doing a anime themed pumpkin decorating contest again but they added a no carved/cut up in any way rule this year I decided to crochet my submission.  I finished it yesterday and I FORGOT to take photos of it before I took him in.

I choose to make Mato from the anime Fairy Tail he pops up doing the grand magic games arc as the Host of the games.  His catch phrase is 'Kabo' which is Japanese and short for kobocha which means pumpkin.

I am slightly dispointed with how he came out I wish I had been able to make his eyes cleaner.

I will try to get a photo of him up soon.

Ok here is Mato hanging out with his favorit Fairy Tail member Erza, and Lucy just jumped in the shot to be there.

Aloha April matching sham! ~Pattern~

So I decided I didnt want to match the pillows exactly I wanted the second sham to look like its part of the same 'set'.

I supersized the motif, pattern ajustments as fallows--

Working with a double strand (holding 2 strans together) and a large hook (I used a P)
Ch 8 slst into ring
sc 22 into ring
ch1 sc 2 into ring, ch 9 slst into top of sc, sc 4 ch 9 slst, sc 4 ch 9 slst, sc 4 ch 9 slst, sc 4 ch 9 slst, sc 4 ch 9 slst, sc slst to firt sc  (should have 6 loops)

Then work the fallowing over the chain 9 ~~sc 2, hdc 2, dc 4, trb 4 ch 3 slst, trb 3,dc 4, hdc 2, sc 2,  slst into the middle  2 st between chain 9's ~~and repeat from ~~

For the corner motif ajustments--

Ch 6 slst join in the round.

SC 12 around the chain slst to join

SC 2, chain 7 slst into top of stitch, sc 4 ch 7 slst into top of stitch, sc 4 ch 7 slst into top of stitch, sc 4 ch 7 slst into top of stitch,sc 4 ch 7 slst into top of stitch, sc 2 slst to join. (Should leave you with 5 chain loops)

Work over all the chain loops-
Sc 2, hdc 2, dc 2, trb 3 ch 3 (this chain will be your join stitch so when you are joining to an other motif ch 1 slst into motif ch 1 instead) slst into top of stitch, trb, 2 dc, 2 hdc, 2sc

I now have a matching set of spring/summer pillow sham's!

I cant wait for the voting process over on r/crochet to start, as there are so many other people in the contest with great projects to go up against.

100 Posts! Giveaway!

So I am officially over 100 posts.  I know I mentioned a while back that when I hit 100 posts I would be doing a giveaway so here it is!

Rules- Anyone, anywhere can enter.  If your are under age (younger then 18) please make sure with a parent or guardian before entering as I will need a physical address and name to send the prize to.
To enter all you need to do is to leave a comment on this post.  In the comment mention which item from the list you would like, you can leave it up to random luck and just say any, or say you want specifiably a Unicorn/Bunny/Cthulhu but you don't care which color, or you can even pick the specific one from the pictures.
If you don't say what you want I will pick for you.
Any double comments will be ignored as an entry so double commenting is not going to earn extra entry's.  Replies to an other comment will not count as an entry either so make sure you are making a comment on this post and not replying to someone comment.  If you decided you want something different then what you original commented just reply to your comment with any corrections.
All comments left by Anonymous will be disregarded you need to make sure you leave a name so  when I announce the winner the prize can be claimed by the right person.
Winner will be announced in a new post which will be titled 'Winner' I will leave an email address as well as instructions on what to put in the email so that I can ship them the prize they pick.  So keep your eyes out for it and rember to leave a comment!
Contest opens the second this post goes live, and ends December 1st 2012 at 12:00am my time (Central Time) so any comments made after that time will not count.

Prizes- One of the fallowing items
Amigurumi Unicorn - Rainbow mane or Silver mane
Amigurumi Bunny- Assorted colors see image
Chibi Cthulhu - Assorted  colors see image

Again anyone can enter, the winner will be chosen by a random number generator, numbers will be assigned to comments in the order they are left.  So friends, family, friends of family, followers, and even strangers you all have a equal chance of winning.  If enough people show interest I might let it choose three winners instead of just one.  So feel free to share this post with friends and get the word out, the more people commenting the bigger the chance for multiple winners.

I will be mailing the prize or prizes out the first week of December, so long as the winners get back to me in time, after Dec 7th if the winner(s) have not responded a new winner(s) will be announced and they will have 7 days to respond.  That way it will hopefully get where ever it is going before the holidays.  If your local (live in Missouri nearish st louis) we can meet up so you can pick up the prize in person.

Good Luck!

(All amigurumi was made in a smoke free, pet friendly environment.)

Update time!

So I slacked off a bit with crochet and have not updated any new posts in a few weeks.  Sorry!!!

I have some news and a two WIP )works in progress( to show off.

First up, is the Juicy Fruits blanket pattern by Red Heart that I am working on.  You will notice the diffrence between mine and the original in the link above I am making mine smaller so it will be a perfect square, the pattern is worked in groups of 6 stitches so I just chained I believe 132 at the start instead of their recommended 152.  I also am using a J hook, and a variegated yarn that my sister gave to me with out a label.  I decied I didnt want to keep doing the color changes the way they are done in the pattern, firstly because weaving/hiding all those tails would take for ever, secondly I would rather work out a way to carry the color changes up so your not wasting 4 to 6 inches every change because in the end that's A LOT of yarn wasted.  I do think after I finish the blanket I am working on I will try this pattern again, but do it in black and gray's for myself and see if I cant find a better way to carry up the color change instead of wasting all that yarn.

Here is the project I have been working on since June, it took a bit of a back burner spot since I started the above pattern.  I think I am going to just turn it into a circle vest, there are still quite a few rounds left to finish this one, sadly my attempts to free form the spiral Phoenix like wings failed.  I really did try but I could not get wings to have that spiral affect and still line up and look like it was still part of the same project.

Here I will end with some happy/sad news.

Due to the person who placed first in the Stitch and Share not living with in the bounds of the contest regulations (sad news for her) they decided to pass the gift on to seconed place (happy dance news for meh).  They emailed me since I was their second place (insert more happy dance because they called me second place!!) and asked if I would like the prize.

Its 29 sample spools of artistic thread.  My favorite is that skein laying across the spools, its a beautiful teal colored Kreinik Silk Mori (4044) thats 100% silk and so soft.  I want to work it into a bracelet, but I want to honor the tread and not just make it into something to use it but make it into something beautiful.  My first thought was a granny square bracelet, I just need to find some squares that I think will do justice to this beautiful thread.

On a side note, why is it that when I get a project out to crochet on the cats migrate to it and lay on it?
